As I write this, the ink is drying on a contract I just signed with Cerridwen Press to publish WICKED COOL. This is a book very close to my heart, and I’m thrilled that it will be seeing the light of day! It’s completely different from my other books so far — this one features a teenaged girl desperate to find out who she is and where her strange powers come from. It’s sort of … um …. “Harry Potter” meets “The Princess Diaries.” I’ll post again when I know more — like, when it will come out and where it can be purchased and all that good stuff. I might even post an excerpt, if the publisher has no objection. That way you can sneak a peek, in case you wonder whether I’ve lost my mind. (“She’s writing WHAT?!”)

Meanwhile, I’ve heard that there seems to be a “hunger in the marketplace” (an editor’s words, no less) for more “character-driven” stories in the realm of historical romance. As you can imagine, my ears pricked up at that. In fact, I almost fell off my chair. Because that’s what I write!

If the romance pendulum is about to swing back in my direction, I’d better be there to catch the wave. (That’s what we author-types call a “mixed metaphor” — I’m good at those, too.) So I’m putting a proposal together.

Long story short? There’s lots of writing in my future. The pressure is on. And it’s been such a long time, I have to admit, even a dose of deadline terror feels pretty good right now.

Many, many thanks to each and every reader for your patience and support!!

    Hi Diane,
I am so glad to hear you haven’t given up on the Regency genre despite all the naysayers. Best of luck on your quartet proposal.

Best of luck or break a leg or whatever expression works to get you that new contract. I’ve loved so many of your heroes (Malcolm and Lord Rival are definitely in my Top 10 list) and hope to meet more of them in the future.
